Derek Lam Introduces New Optical and Sunglass Collection

New York, April 15th, 2010

The new Derek Lam eyewear collection consists of 3 optical styles and 3 sun styles. A product launch inspired by retro designs adapted to a more modern style.

Superb quality and sophistication are key elements of the optical styles. The shapes are a balance between chunky, directional pieces with beveling details (styles 224, 225) and lighter, softer shapes that cover, yet "recede from the face" (style 226). Colors range from classic black and torts to topaz and olive.

The trend for oversized shapes remains dominant in the sun styles. A strong accent in the collection are the materials which were inspired by a mix of "Ombre" (gradient crystals), and "Strange Animal" prints (Lapis, Tort and Nougat).
Sun lenses feature double gradients in warm desert inspired colors (grey-amber, grey-pink).

The sides and fronts of the Derek Lam frames are enriched with unique accents, such as two silver stars. A logo plaque on the inside of the temple confers a rich yet subtle feel.

The Derek Lam Eyewear collection will be distributed through a tight league of selected eyewear, specialty and department stores across the world.
